I want to congratulate you all with the successful revolution of the Arab consciousness. Thanks to the brave Arab people within our nation and the international support from outside our nation, the Arab people, under the leadership of the Free Officers Movement succeeded in removing the corrupt King Farouk I which downgraded our great nation into a shadow of its glorious history.
With the removal of Farouk I, the Arab people have now taken back the control over its own nation and I can inform you that the new leaders, immediately started negotiations with the British to end the occupation of Egyptian soil. The greatness of the Arab spring in Egypt is not just that we achieved this great revolution with our own people and without foreign interference, but as well that this regime change has been achieved without bloodshed. We are proud on this and we will protect our values. The great nation of Egypt is known for its principles, tolerance and nationalism, values the new government will not abandon.
People of Egypt, today it's time to celebrate, tomorrow we will work. Work on an Arab future in which not just the Arab community of Egypt benefits, but the entire Arab world. Our revolution is not just an Egyptian revolution, but the start of an Arab chain. We've seen similar revolutions in Syria and Iraq and it's expected we will see a similar Arab spring in Algeria. A nation currently still occupied by the French colonizers.
But before the great nation of Egypt guides the Arab world once again, just as it did several times in the history of Egypt, it's first time to solve domestic issues. Regain full control over our territory, fight corruption, boost Arab consciousness and fight poverty. The future of a pan Arab world starts in Cairo. Long live Egypt and long live Arabia.
I am glad to announce that after secret negotiations I have on behalf of the Free Officers Movement, came to a mutual understanding with the British government to end the occupation of the last parts of Egyptian soil. With this historic agreement the Arab revolution of Egypt has not just started without bloodshed, but will also end without bloodshed. The Arab community of Egypt and the British have had a poor relation, but with this treaty, an end has came to 68 years of occupation and poor relations and hopefully normal relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom can soon start.
After the independence treaty has been ratified, the British forces will leave our great nations within 2 months. At that day, we can officially declare ourselves entirely independent and sovereign. Great Arab community, the Pan-Arab revolution has started in Cairo and is slowly spreading across entire Egypt.
With the removal of British forces in process and the moment that Egypt is sovereign over its own territory after 68 years, it's time to get rid of the last parts of anti Arab sentiments. In a referendum in which the people of Egypt can speak itself out over a proposal made by the Free Officers Movement, revolutionary guidelines can be chosen into the Egyptian constitution. Maybe symbolic, but historical wise very important, is the opportunity to exchange the Kingdoms flag with the Egyptian Arab Revolution flag. Further will this constitution protect minorities, connect the future of Egypt to the future of the Arab people and the Arabs in Palestine in particular.
The Free Officers Movement believes this constitution suits best to the desires and demands of the Egyptian people and with that makes an end of 68 years of non-Arab leadership in the center of the Arab world.
Arab Republic of Egypt declared; Egyptian Revolution enters its second phase
As salaam wa alleikoem fellow Arabs,
An overwhelmingly percentage of 80.44% gave their support for the constitution which entered Egypt into the second phase of the Arab Revolution. With the approval by the Arab people of the constitution, we can say Egypt will enter a stage of continuous revolution.
The last elements of the old treasonous colonial kingdom have been removed with the adoption of the Revolutionary flag as the official flag. The official name of the Republic of Egypt has been changed into the Arab Republic of Egypt, in which the Arab desire for unity is expressed. The Arab support for the struggle of the Palestinian people against the Zionist colonist is also underlined in the Egyptian constitution which confirms our eternal support for our Palestine brothers.
Fellow Arabs, the old Egypt is no longer. The new Arab Republic of Egypt has been born. As chairman of the Free Officers Movement and president of the newly Arab Republic of Egypt I will say our revolution has entered its second phase. The elitist structures of Egypt are being broken down, newly egalitarian structures will be build.
The Arab Republic of Egypt will not just support egalitarianism and pan Arabism within Egypt, but also within the entire Arab world. Pan-Arabism is more than just a national struggle, it's a continuous Revolution in support of the Arab people across all the Arab lands. With the pan-Arab constitution the Egyptian people have declared solidarity with its Arab brothers and sisters across the entire pan Arab world.
In response of the Soviet threat to colonize soil of out fellow Arab brothers and sisters in Syria, I've ordered our navy to enforce a naval blockade across the Syrian coast. It's in line with our constitution our duty to protect our fellow Arabs against foreign aggression.
The Arab Republic of Egypt and its people can't stand idle while foreign powers try to play geopolitical games on our soil. We Arabs should more than ever show commitment towards each other and unite us against foreign aggression.
As Arab community we are not interested in the tensions between the Soviet Union and the United States and we are neither interested to get directly or indirectly involved in them. With our naval blockade we have delivered a clear message towards the Soviet Union.
Even if it would cost Egyptian blood, we can't tolerate that Arab soil would be colonized again. If we would do so, we should rather stop opposing the Zionist state. Arab soil belongs to the Arab people on those who are not Arab and does not respect our Arab culture and traditions, should return to where they belong.
